Aromatherapy Treatments
The benefits of aromatherapy can be achieved using different methods, some of which we have outlined below.
Aromatherapy Bath Oils
Taking a bath is the ultimate opportunity to enjoy aromatherapy and relax. To enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy while bathing first of all close all the windows and door to your bathroom to seal in the steam. Prepare a warm bath and when the water has finished pouring add around ten drops of an essential oil of your choice.
A variety of substances can be used as essential oils such as lavender and Cedarwood to gain a range of effects including relief from insomnia and general relaxation. As the oil mixes into the water the scent will rise with the steam and circulate around the room. Now simply sit back, relax and enjoy the benefits.
Skin Care Products
You can also achieve good results by developing existing products. Choose a cream or lotion free from fragrance and lanolin and mix into the cream a few drops of an essential oil of your choice. Different oils will have different properties such as lemon which can help reduce the appearance of cellulite and patchouli which can reduce the visible effects of scarring.
Massage With Aromatherapy
To prepare your solution, take a small bottle that can hold 2 fluid ounces. Half fill the bottle with your desired carrier oil and fill the remainder of the bottle with about 15 drops of your chosen essential oil. You can use just one essential oil or up to three, although exceeding three may limit the potential of your solution as the oils become too weakly concentrated. When you have made your desired blend of oils shake the bottle well to mix the solution, leave to settle then apply.
If stored away from sunlight in cool conditions your blend may last for up to three months. If you are unsure how old your blend is then test the fragrance given off. If the blend seems unpleasant then it is best to throw it away and start a fresh.
